Position Summary

The Data Analyst is responsible for supporting strategic decision-making by transforming complex data into actionable insights. This position designs and develops analytical and operational tools that enhance efficiency and standardize internal processes. Additionally, the Data Analyst manages datasets, systematizes, analyzes, and interprets data to improve performance tracking and operational decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Gather and provide relevant data for the development of analyses, reports, and energy security scenarios in Mexico.
  • Analyze transactional and contractual commercial data to generate accurate, actionable reports and deliver strategic business insights that support decision-making.
  • Structure, validate, and analyze information for the calculation and updating of transportation tariffs and natural gas molecule costs, under procurement, transportation, and storage contracts.
  • Design and automate dashboards, reports, and technical outputs using visualization and scripting tools (Power BI, Excel, Python).
  • Collaborate with front-office teams (Traders, Schedulers, and Analysts) to provide real-time insights and support operational decisions.
  • Integrate internal and external data sources, including ETRM systems, market reports, and public datasets.
  • Create scalable tools (templates, Excel models, dashboards, or automated scripts) to improve consistency in data collection, monitoring, and reporting.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Engineering, Data Science, or related fields. Equivalent professional experience demonstrating relevant technical competencies may be considered.

Experience

  • 2+ years of experience in data analytics – preferably within the energy sector, commodities or natural gas markets.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Experience working with large datasets and cloud data platforms.
  • Proficient in Power BI or other visualization tools to create interactive reports and dashboards.
  • Advanced skills in Excel, Access, Python, or SQL for data management, transformation, and automation. Experience with database management and process optimization.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a trading or energy operations environment.
  • Business knowledge of U.S. and Mexican natural gas regulatory frameworks.
