Position Summary

We are seeking a Vice President, Risk to lead the design, execution, and oversight of our credit-risk and energy-risk management strategies at CFE International. You will reside within the middle-office function and play a pivotal role in safeguarding the integrity, performance, and alignment of our risk portfolio with the company’s operational and commercial objectives. You will own counterparty evaluation, credit structuring, collateral and margin strategy, stress-testing programs, and governance—partnering closely with the Chief Risk Officer, senior leadership, Legal, Treasury, and Commercial teams to drive sustainable growth, protect financial exposure, and uphold best-in-class risk-management practices. This highly visible role demands strategic vision, deep expertise in credit and energy risk (preferably in natural gas), and outstanding leadership to build and mentor a world-class analytics team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Credit & Energy-Risk Strategy: Define and evolve the enterprise credit-risk appetite, energy-risk parameters, approval matrices, and limit frameworks in partnership with the Chief Risk Officer.
  • Portfolio Integrity & Performance: Ensure the credit portfolio aligns with operational and commercial objectives through ongoing performance reviews, limit refreshes, and portfolio rebalancing.
  • Counterparty Evaluation & Structuring: Oversee deep-dive credit reviews, enhanced due diligence, covenant design, rating migrations, and collateral triggers to mitigate risk.
  • Collateral & Margin Strategy: Architect CSA frameworks, optimize thresholds, and conduct margin-period-of-risk analyses to reduce unsecured exposures and optimize funding costs.
  • Modeling & Analytics: Lead development, validation, and refinement of credit-risk models (PD, LGD, EAD), scenario analyses, stress tests, and interactive dashboards for executive decision-making.
  • Policy & Process Optimization: Continuously enhance credit-risk policies, automated workflows, and data integrations; champion ETRM enhancements with IT.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Collaborate with Front Office, Treasury, Legal, and Commercial on new products, contract negotiations, and market expansions—embedding risk considerations at deal inception.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Build, mentor, and grow a high-impact credit and energy-risk analytics team across all levels, fostering expertise in quantitative methods, governance, and strategic advisory.
  • Regulatory & Standards Compliance: Ensure frameworks meet U.S. and cross-border regulations (FERC, IFRS 9/CECL), ISDA/NAESB standards, and internal audit recommendations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with U.S. and cross-border credit risk regulations and gas and standards.
